Beautiful Norfolk

Where do you go to enjoy a relaxing weekend away? Well, having just returned from spending two nights in Holt, I recommend the Norfolk coast.

My husband and I stayed at the 'posh B&B' Byfords in Holt which was a real pleasure. The rooms were sooo cosy and they have a wonderful deli, cafe and restaurant too. And if that's not enough, we were presented with a free cup of tea and cake on arrival, and bedtime cookies just before we fell asleep.

It was also a great place to stay before exploring the delights of the North Norfolk coast - Cley, Wells

next the Sea, Burnham Market, Cromer and even Nelson's birthplace - Burnham Thorpe.

My top five places to visit in Norfolk

1. Byfords Posh B & B - they serve the best breakfasts
2. The Pigs in Edgefield - voted Country Pub of the Year 2009 by Country Life magazine and a quirky and very piggy experience!
3. Hello Sweetie - sellers of traditional sweets, the Rhubarb & Custards are my favourite!
4. The Lord Nelson in Burnham Thorpe - Nelson's cosy, local pub
5. Wells next the Sea - a vast, bracing beach with beautiful sand dunes to race up and down. Why not hire a beach hut for the day!

We also met a pheasant along the way too, but that's another story....

Little House PR makes it onto the Movers & Shakers page!

'Nina Lancaster has launched Little House PR from her garden shed in Royston. She has worked in PR for 15 years and has promoted some of the biggest consumer brands, including Willis & Gambier, Halo, Multiyork and Heinz; but she is now focusing on cottage industry.

"I want to help farm shops, florists, potters, local beauty salons," Nina says.'

Bella, bella

With two children, one buggy and shopping bags in tow, my husband and I treated ourselves to lunch at Jamie's Italian in Cambridge on Saturday. Dare I say it, but I think we've actually beaten many of our single friends in getting a table too! I've never been to any of Mr Oliver's restaurants before, but this was brilliant! Not only did we sit opposite the pasta machine and watched hungrily as the chef made my Truffle Tortellini, but I tasted the best Tiramisu too.

Upsy daisy do

There may not have been many daffodils out for the first day of Spring, but my daughter was very excited to pick her first daisy of the year. In just a few more weeks we'll be merrily making daisy chains in the garden!

It's sunny in the shed!

Sitting at my desk working today is a real treat.

Not only did I get to tiptoe through the daffodil bulbs as I made my way up the garden, I've got the door open to welcome in the warmer air and that glorious sunshine.

Chris Evans on BBC Radio 2 said is was a lovely day, and he was right! I was even tempted to enjoy my lunch outside today, but work wouldn't wait.

Let's hope the sun stays around until the weekend when I'm off to the Thriplow Daffodil Festival. It's the first day of Spring on Sunday and my mother's birthday, and I can't think of a better place to mark both occasions!

Home Sweet Home

It has often been referred to as the wendy house, the shed and the office, but I like to think of it as my 'Little House' and it really is the perfect place to work and to gain inspiration.

Bird watching

The sun is shining and the family of blackbirds, or at least, Mummy and Daddy Blackbird are busy finding a safe place to nest this Spring. I'd forgotten just how busy our garden was last year and how my daughter and I could barely keep up with crumbling up bread crumbs. Which reminds me, I must buy a nesting box for the blue tits.

Fancy a cup of tea?

Where would we be without a cup of tea?

For me, tea is a perfect pick me up at 6am in the morning or at 4pm in the afternoon. And what better way to enjoy it than with your favourite biscuit, whilst you're busy working in the garden shed.
